Are there times in your life when you feel like things are coming together?
January was one of those times. I just completed my certificate in Positive Psychology, had my article Vital Signs of Well-Being in Natural Awakenings and a chapter in Is Oasis for You? published. I am walking the talk of commitment to goals. This is exciting and a bit scary even as I’m seeing ideas and goals come to fruition.
Having the education to do ‘sacred’ work like caring for others through medicine, chiropractic or nursing is a privilege and a responsibility. The desire to get it right goes way beyond the concept of “first do no harm.” We have all faced disappointments when we’ve felt we could have done better. How much does the fear of not getting it right, or haven fallen short along the way, get in the way of you making changes? Whether in trying new techniques or new approaches with your patients, or in your personal life there will be successes and missing the mark along the way.
Growing into your best self takes time and commitment. Shaking things up even with small changes can bring about self-consciousness and uncomfortable feelings of self-doubt. You are worth making a change for. Reconnecting with what’s important to you and what gives you pleasure will allow you to bring your best self forward. You have so much to offer the world. Know that discomfort and slip-ups are part of the human experience. Don’t let the awkward and difficult moments along your journey keep you away. Instead keep coming back to your practice, whatever that small change you’ve chosen for yourself, Do It Now.
