Your Relationships are the most important element of your life for your happiness. This refers to relationships at work and in your community as well as to your relationship with significant others. We’re social beings; so much so, we may even socialize online and on line in the grocery store.
What groups are you part of that enhance your life?
Recently, I was speaking with someone about presenting to groups. She likes to remind participants that “Perhaps the golden nugget you came for will come from another participant.” These nuggets of information and exchange are around much of the day and influence you. Social psychologists often study the influence people have on each other, wisdom traditions teach us to be careful in our choice of friends and who we spend time with, and advertisers play on the importance of how individuals influence each other.
Who you spend time with reflects and impacts you as well. Influence yourself for the positive. Starting May 10, I will be offering Revitalize Your Life, a small group coaching program which will occur over 6 consecutive Tuesday evenings. By joining this group you’ll be with others who want to change their lives for more positivity and greater well-being.
While the exercises in the blogs are helpful, it is often hard to maintain momentum to use them regularly. Since we are social beings, the energy of a group can propel us into action, especially when there is accountability. Being part of a group accounts for part of the success of Weight Watchers and AA. If you want to recover from or prevent burnout, surround yourself with positive minded people so you can buoy each other. This will provide you with a big step closer to your well-being.
Who’s someone you’d like to be on your well-being team? Please share a valued quality of the person, no names needed.
