Do you ever wonder about what your essence is? What makes you uniquely you? I’m participating in a coaching program called Positive Intelligence. This week we have been using a picture of ourselves from when we were young to detect our essence energy. We are looking deeply at ourselves with a loving attitude in order to notice qualities that radiate from the person that still exists within. Some of these qualities may be covered up more in adulthood. We are looking beyond the superficial to the unique qualities that have existed in us from early on. This has been a fun and enlightening exercise.
Part of the purpose of this is to remember who we are at the core, before we developed self-criticism. Seeing who we were prior to the need for developing a lot of coping mechanisms that may no longer serve us. Looking at these photos of our young selves has been an opportunity to look for essence energy.
You too can have fun with this. I encourage you to look at your own old photo.
- What do you see when you look deeply at an old photo of yourself?
- A time of greater innocence, before refinement or tarnish, what do can you see that has been there all along?
- What wisdom might this grant you in the here and now?
After this deep looking come up with “I am” statements.
As a result of my looking, here’s some of what stands out to me in my photo.
- I am content
- I am friendly
- I am calm
- I am cooperative
- I am curious
- I connect
- I am soulful
What do you see in your photo? Please share your photo and “I am” with me and/or with others who are following this post.
